Village Hall

Burton Overy has had a Village Hall since 1922. The hall, situated in the quiet backwater of Rectory End, comprises two 18th century cottages, previously the homes of gardeners employed at the Rectory. The cottages are a now meeting room, and a new modern hall, with a kitchen built to the rear. The Hall accommodates village and private functions and is well used by the clubs and societies of the village.

The Village Hall AGM takes place annually towards the end of April.

Date of next Management Meeting is Thursday 6th December 7:30pm

The work to carry out a revamp of the entrance to the Hall, in order to make it safer, more user friendly and with better access and more parking for disabled users, has now finished and has provided the Village Hall with a clean, modern and inviting entrance. When you are next up Rectory End, please take some time to have a look.

Planned Projects and Future

A good deal of maintenance and repair work has been carried out on the exterior of the hall (windows, painting, etc). The floor in the main hall has been re-varnished, new more efficient lighting installed and the canopy re-placed. The carpet in the Brian Pollard Room is also being replaced.

The building is currently undergoing the remainder of this work plus much needed re-decoration. All this is scheduled to be completed by 22 November – in time for the opening of the Christmas Tree Festival on 30 November.

Other ongoing projects

1) Cupboards in the Brian Pollard Room to be enlarged and re-furbished;

2) Windows in the Brian Pollard Room to be replaced with double glazing. This may mean putting in new lintels.

3) The door to the outside store room to be replaced

4) Guttering and fascias on front of the building to be repaired/replaced

Hire of Burton Overy Village Hall

The hall is for hire for weddings and other private functions. Children's parties are limited to a maximum age of 12 years.
