School Visits

Manor Farm is proud to host School visits which give children first-hand experience of farming and the countryside. We are trained under the CEVAS accreditation scheme. CEVAS stands for Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme which is a nationally recognised accreditation, offering training for individuals who are working with groups of school children, young people or clients with additional needs. This scheme provides the following:

  • It helps children understand where their food comes from
  • shows children the importance of good husbandry
  • increases children's appreciation and understanding of the natural environment
  • lays the foundation for a deeper consumer awareness of food production
  • promotes better understanding and appreciation of agriculture and rural affairs
  • raises awareness of careers available in the countryside
  • contributes to developing children's social and personal skills
  • improves social integration within the visiting group and with the host farm

2017 Visit

Due to the generosity of the village, who raised £270 at the Harvest Festival, two bus loads of children in year 2 visited Manor Farm from Uplands Infant School on 28th and 30th March. The weather was again very kind to us and 120 children were able to spend an enjoyable few hours watching the lambs, collecting eggs, seeing the bee hives, experiencing a farm walk, sitting on a tractor and drawing sheep with charcoal on slates.
