Christmas Tree Festival

The Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival was first held in 2000 and was the first in the county. It has been held each year since then and continues to raise a significant amount each year for the Church, Village Hall and Nominated Charity.

"Why is the Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival always such a success?'' is the frequently asked question locally, around the beginning of December. Many visitors to the Festival (more than 2,000 for the 2016 event last December), tell us they look forward to it as the start of Christmas – and every year many of them go away saying yet again: "It's the best yet!'' Why? Because it is a truly village event, with pretty well everyone in the village making a contribution – whether it is baking a cake, helping to sell raffle tickets, collecting admission fees, clearing tables in the Village Hall, or lighting up a tree in their own garden or window – there's a job for everyone!.

The organising committee put a huge amount of time into planning the festival in detail – and they are immensely grateful for all the willing help they are able to recruit. They have already embarked on plans for the 2017 Festival - 1, 2 and 3 DECEMBER (put it in your diary now!), to keep its traditional flavour, plus including some fresh new ideas to keep it exciting and attractive to visitors.

The nominated charity for the 2017 Festival, our 18th, will be The Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Dates for the 2017 festival: DECEMBER 1st, 2nd and 3rd. 2017.

The organising committee want to thank everyone who contributed, whether by baking a cake, donating a raffle prize, or giving up their time to help in so many other ways. Your help is invaluable.

Please drop off any raffle prizes to Carolyn Carson at the Coach House Phone 0116 2593736
